|
The Britannia Association was registered as
Charity No. 1086445 on 2 May 2001
|
The Association is formally recognised as a charity whose Royal Patron is His Royal Highness Admiral The Prince of Wales KG KT GCB OM.
|
|
The Association was formed to meet a need for the alumni who have served
either as wardroom staff officers or undergone training
at Britannia Royal Naval College to be able to be linked,
through having an Association. In effect it represents the
provision of a network of the 'alumni' of the Officer Corp over the past
90 years and will extend into the future. Membership is
intended to be as 'inclusive' as possible and aims to achieve
the following:-
-
To provide a long term focus and network
for the alumni of the Officer Corp of the Navy and to assist them to
stay in touch with each other through membership of the
Association.
-
To provide a Charitable Trust to accept
donations and legacies.
-
To provide grants from funds held in Trust
in support of non publicly funded College activities.
-
To be able to provide a source of
benevolent funds to members in appropriate circumstances.
-
To assist and encourage members to be able to
stay in touch with BRNC and to enable them to be able to make a
contribution to the formation and welfare of successive
generations of young officers.
-
Through the above to promote and contribute
to the military efficiency of the Royal Navy.
The formally expressed objects of this Trust
are:
To promote the military efficiency of The Royal
Navy by:-
-
Maintaining contact between past and
present alumni and wardroom status members of the staff of the
College fostering mutual friendship between them and providing
the mechanism and framework to facilitate social gatherings of
them.
-
Fostering esprit de corps, comradeship and
the welfare of past and present alumni and wardroom status
members of the staff of the College and preserving the
traditions of the Service and College.
-
To relieve where appropriate past and
present alumni and wardroom status members of the staff of the
College who are in conditions of need hardship or distress.
The Charity name is 'The Britannia Association'.
